When to choose Ornith 1.5 35B
Ornith 1.5 35B is an open-weight mixture-of-experts model trained for agentic coding and tool use. Only a small part of its parameters is active for each token, so it stays fast while handling multi-step work. It reads text and images.
It is a strong fit for:
- Coding agents — editor assistants and command-line agents that read files, propose changes and call tools in a loop.
- Tool-heavy workflows — tasks where the model plans, calls functions and reacts to the results.
- Screenshots and diagrams — UI captures, error dialogs and architecture sketches next to the code.
- Structured output — JSON, configuration and code that another program consumes.
Reasoning on or off
Reasoning is off by default for quick replies. Turn it on when the task needs planning or careful debugging; reasoning tokens are billed as output tokens. See Reasoning controls.
How it compares
Qwen3.8 27B is the dense all-rounder with graded reasoning effort. For very long inputs, GLM 5.3 Flash also reads images and has a much larger context window. For simple, high-volume text tasks, Nemotron 3.5 Lightning 30B is the budget choice.
